My name is Kat Carney, and since losing 90 pounds 15 years ago, I’ve become very passionate about helping women reach their weight loss goals and get jazzed about how a reading a positive ‘inspirweigtion’ or learning about simple habit change like eating on smaller plates can brighten someone’s day and put them on the path towards success.

So I started thinking…diets aren’t one-size-fits all, but maybe I could create a positive, results-oriented, FREE weight loss community that was!

Based upon this simple notion of ‘success’ and ‘positivity’ (and FREE) I decided to combine the collective experiences of thousands of success stories and love for sharing what we’ve learned on our own weight loss journeys: The Weigh We Were.

TheWeighWeWere.com is here to help women struggling with weight to connect in more personal and meaningful ways to women just like them who have overcome everyday challenges to become weight loss success stories.

    Hi Kat,

    I love your story it is very inspiring. I am 23 and have struggled with weight loss since child hood and have been looking for a way to stay continuing in my healthy fitness and lifestyle journey. I don’t have children yet but I do have 2 nieces and 2 nephews who I love dearly. I want to be better for them. I enjoyed hearing your story and learning from your experiences. Unfortunately I have been going through a bit of a plateau. I have been searching for a program to jump start my journey again. I came across this article and not sure if I should try it. I would love for your opinion.

    I would so LOVE to join your community of like-minded individuals – This is in no way a pity party for me, but I was always fit, slim, and could eat the equivalent of three men at a Sunday buffet. But I also exercised/worked out too – so…..9 years ago, I was able to work from home and my (ahem) “backyard” became somewhat of a cushion that kept multiplying, – very sedentary job, transcribing medical reports all day long. AND I am paid on productivity – the more lines I produce, the more I can earn. SO I am paid well but NEVER EVER was I in double digits – until now. I am miserable and this body is not who I am. To add to all the above, 4 years ago, my beautiful handsome talented son took his own life by GSW to his head. I understand first-hand about addictions – first, I quit smoking in 2005, then I quit drinking (socially and/or at home), then Cole died, and I let myself go to hell. Meaning, no exercising, eating whatever I want, and I see this now as another ‘coping’ replacement mechanism, eating and being a couch potato. I would SO LOVE to be used as an advert on your website, just so I have accountability and proof it can be done! Bless you and all your friends/comrades in their successes!

    I’m 33 with 3 children. My oldest is 4, and my youngest is 10weeks. I want to lose 30 lbs and live a fitter lifestyle.
    We are paying off student loans, so there isn’t room in our budget for a gym membership or weightless program, or website subscription. How do I learn how to exercise and eat right without spending an arm and leg? I know I can search, bit I have NO POINT of reference. Where do I start?

    I’m 364 after loosing some weight, I am in a program to get baratric surgery route n y I need support. And encouragement I am excited but have many health problems.

    Hi my name it’s Rosanna I’m 5″8 180pounds with diabetes. I suffer depression because my weight.. I need help.

      Hey, remember that you’re always beautiful. Your BMI really isn’t that bad, it’s roughly a score of 27 making you overweight but not obese. With your diabetes, really watch your sugar and carb intake. Healthy snacks such as protein bars, organic beef jerky, and nuts are good for you but also good to eat when diabetic. Exercises such as walking, yoga, pilates, boxing, and CrossFit help to burn unwanted fat but also help the brain secrete neurotransmitters that can help with depression

    I have always been over weight, even as a young child. I’m now a 29-year-old mother of three children, two of whom have special needs. I need to live a long and healthy life for my kids. I have tried everything under the sun to lose weight, but I have PCOS and hypothyroidism, so that makes things a little more complicated. I’m considering having weight loss surgery, and I’m wondering if anyone on here has gone that route. I’m 5’2″ tall, and I weigh 242 lbs. I have no energy, and I am always physically uncomfortable. Any advice would be much appreciated.

    I am very depressed since you divorce 4 years ago lost everything now I am from check to check and being healthy cost so much I’m 5 5 225 pounds I have fibromyalgia I’m in constant pain all day everyday it’s to the point that I take my medication and I drink wine so I don’t have to feel no more pain .Mrs in pain
