I started a weight loss journey in January 2010 and completed my first half marathon in August.

When I began my journey I weighed 180 pounds; after going to the doctor for a check-up and seeing the number on the scale I signed up for Weight Watchers.

I lost 50 pounds in 9 months and also got seriously into running! I ran eight races in 2010 including two half marathons. The first was the inaugural Minneapolis 13.1 in August, and the second was the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in San Antonio.

I ran my first in 2:11 and set a goal to finish my second in 2 hours or less. I finished at 1:59:47! Now I am training for another half and will begin training for my first full marathon in February. I’ll run it, alongside my little sister, a week before I turn 40!
