The way I look and the way that I feel, I don’t remember ever feeling this way!
WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
2008 after I suffered a miscarriage and I was happily married and wasn’t really paying much attention to my weight gain, I got bigger so I just bought bigger clothes

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
Not much really, I’m a very confident person, I just compensated and bought more clothes, even though I didn’t want too. Plus my job requires
a uniform so it was easy to hide the weight gain.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I actually got started to motivate my husband because he was taking too many medications and I knew if he just lost some of the weight it would help his situation a lot, so I said if I do it he will join me.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Well the first steps were witnessing a couple of my friends doing the Body Refined Lifestyle program and seeing their transformation and I was like ok, stop, what are y’all doing because you all look amazing… Whatever it is, give me the name and number because I’m going to call today…. and that’s exactly what I did.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
For me, I’m a female and I’m a night worker and I work long hours. So my journey to where I am today did take a while. But others would say they could see a difference before I could. Maybe 6 months and that’s my honest answer. I was up and down with my weight too, not because I was doing anything wrong, it was just what it was but once it started to come off, it came off slowing but consistently.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
My biggest challenge was getting enough sleep. Sleep was a real and current challenge for me but when you know better you do better and I’m doing a lot better than when I started but the journey does continue and I just take it one day at a time but I do know if I get my hours of sleep everything else falls into place. If I’m sleep deprived, it messes up my entire day and throws off everything.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
No, I’m not a quitter and I had a goal and i was determine to meet or exceed that goal. There were times that I got frustrated because the scale didn’t say what I wanted it to say or something didn’t fit like I felt it should but I had to continue the plan because I knew if I just followed the instructions and eat and drink and sleep like i’m suppose to that everything will work in my favor and it did.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
OMG, DiD I.. yes, plenty and it all came with my schedule and me rotating from days to nights. I had to learn that the body responds to having a consistent schedule and when you break that schedule you body doesn’t understand what you want it to do so it decides to hold onto everything, therefore you plateau or gain weigh. It was a hard lesson but one you only have to be taught once to know you can’t continue on that path if you want to succeed at your goal.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
Over a year.. I’m still not at my goal but I’m maintaining well and I’m happy with that. I love the way I look and I’m following my plan. When I comes off it will but I’m not dwelling on what the scale says as much as I am how I feel and what I look like. I’m not saying that I don’t look or get on the scale because I do, Its just not my main concern but I do get on it (the scale) like clockwork.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
getting in certain size clothes that I never thought I could ever get into.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Well I’m a night worker, so I didn’t eat bad per say, I just wasn’t eating what I should have been eating. I would just pick up a sandwich, not many vegetables. No reason for my eating just eating so that I wasn’t hungry and also eating when I had time to eat instead of making time to eat what I needed to eat.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Physical activity is much easier now. I’m not doing that much more but what I am doing is much easier than before.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Always have a snack and always have water with you at all times. You never know if you are going to get stuck somewhere unexpectedly and not get to your next meal. But always having something on hand keeps you from stopping and getting something you shouldn’t all because you were prepared. Stay ready so you don’t have to get ready….
