I was very active and fit before I became pregnant. I was doing Krav Maga, and I felt amazing! After becoming pregnant with my daughter, I really bought into the “eating for two” myth and gained 70 pounds during my pregnancy! Fortunately, I did not develop gestational diabetes or high blood pressure, and I gave birth via c-section to a healthy baby girl!
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I was just tired and sluggish all the time, and I did not feel well. I was definitely not myself.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? One day, mt husband and I were out running errands. It was not long after I had given birth to my daughter. I was dehydrated, sleep-deprived, and overweight. I actually blacked out and had to be rushed to the ER in an ambulance. This was SCARY, and as soon as the doctor gave me clearance to start exercising, I went at it full speed ahead.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? Since I had always been an athlete, and I knew how to eat right, I just started back applying what I already knew. I developed a fitness routine and nutrition plan and stuck to it.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? About a month later my clothes were looser, I had more energy, and I was feeling better.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? I had to get out of my “bad habits” routine. I was not sleeping well. I was not mindful or what I ate, and I ate late at night. I knew better, but I didn’t do better!
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? My faith kept me going! Whenever I felt overwhelmed or tired, I read my favorite scriptures and prayed. I know I can do all things through Christ!

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? I booked a national print and commercial campaign for Design Essentials, I have motivated a lot of people to take charge of their health and make lifestyle changes.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? Well, my diet has TOTALLY transformed. I am vegan now!
