Weight Loss Before and After: Dee Loses 104 Pounds And Transforms Her Body
My name is Dee Harr and I am 18 years old. I’m going to be the big one nine in March. I was born and raised in Warren, Ohio and now I am trying to become a resident in Iowa so I can go to college.
I’ve always been a big girl compared to my twin sister who’s always been little. I learned just to accept the fact that I was a big girl and will never be skinny. From 7th grade to my junior year of high school, I would drink three Monster Energy drinks a day. I could eat a whole bag of potato chips, fast food, and not give a crap to what it was doing to my body. Then, I took a Nutrition and Wellness class my junior year at Howland High, with an awesome teacher, Mrs. Ruth. In this class we did a food pyramid project and I learned that I was very over weight. I knew I was heavy and my doctor would always tell me that I need to be careful and try to lose weight but it’s easier said than done.
But when I did that project and you have all that information in front of you, how much you should weigh compared to what you are now, what you are supposed to eat compared to what you are eating now, it’s a whole new ball game my friends. So everything I learned in that class, I took to heart and then I did what I thought was the right thing to do and I think I did a pretty good job. I used it be 254 pounds, now I weigh 150 pounds. I’ve lost 104 pounds in two years. My teacher was very supportive and encouraging through the whole thing!
How I started was, I stopped eating all fast food, NO pop at all, no junk food, and no bread. Most people give up things slowly, not me! I gave up everything at once. I was not messing around anymore. I was ready to change what I looked like and how crappy I felt every day of my life. I would walk everyday for an hour and a half, while rocking out to music. I am in an amazing nonprofit organization called Sheltered Reality that kept me going and empowered me to keep going and to never give up on my goal.
Losing weight is not easy and it is WAY easier to just stop and give up… but if you never give up, and take the leap… it’s so worth it! I feel great now; I have so much more energy, I’m way happier, and not worried what people think about me. I am a goofy dork who now loves life and is SO ready to make a difference in the world and succeed! Since August, I started doing a workout called Turbo Jam and it is SO much fun! It just feels like you are dancing and I love dancing. My two favorite things to do on the CD is the 20 minute workout and my absolute favorite is the Ab workout! I feel so good after I do them!
Losing weight is not easy at all! YOU have to be willing to WANT to change your habits, YOU are the one who has to make the decision and do it! The hardest part is starting; once you start you can’t give up! A lot of people expect it to just all burn off like that, it’s not that easy! You have to be willing to take on that challenge and accept that it may take longer than what you want! Set little goals, that you know you can reach, are the way to go. My first goal was to lose 5 pounds in two weeks. My big goal was to reach 200 pounds… now I am 150 pounds and I still can’t believe it. It is a very awesome feeling, especially when you have people telling you that you can’t. When that happened to me, it just motivated me to prove those people wrong! Believe in yourself and anything can happen! Life is too short to be unhappy and upset with yourself. It’s your time to shine!
I am currently trying to get residency in Iowa and find a job so I can go to Des Moines Area Community College for their Dietary Program in the fall. I am very excited to learn more and I want to be able to help others learn what they should eat and what they should do to be healthy. Ever since I was little, I always knew I was going to make a difference in the world by empowering and inspiring people. I am so excited to help people in any way I possibly can!
