The Gain

I’ve been obese ever since I was a toddler. I was loved and pampered, and my family found me so round and cute. But by the time I got to high school, I weighed 210 pounds and was bulimic. Feeling sick and depressed when I went to college, I lost control over my eating and didn’t exercise; my weight shot up to 270 pounds. Usually I didn’t want to go out—and if I did, I walked with my head down. I felt lonely and ugly, and wanted to have a normal life like the rest of my friends. I wanted to be flirty, beautiful, and have a high and healthy self-esteem.

The Change

At a friend’s wedding I thought, ‘Wow I’m going to be 26 and feel so old and lonely and fat. I have to do something.’

The Lifestyle

Tired of hiding, I changed my eating habits a little bit at a time, started exercising, and got the help of a bariatric doctor. Now I do a lot of cardio, some weights, and drink water all the time.

The Key to Success

Exercise, healthy eating, support from my family, friends, and my bariatric doctor. I lost 95 pounds and still have to lose about 30 more to reach my goal. I feel and live like a new person. Now I love to go shopping and I’m always going out. I’m still single but happy, enjoying my new body and my new life.

Derailers and Strategies

I like helping others losing weight, so I feel that I am a role model to them.

When I Slip…

I remind myself that I never want to feel humiliated again for being big and fat.

When I Soar…

Hearing from guys who never looked at or talked to me before tell me how beautiful I am or ask me out on a date. The feeling is great, believe me!
