When I had my son who’s 7 now. I weighed close to 200 lbs with a height of 5’3. During my pregnancy I gained over 50lbs. I knew I just had a baby and the weight would take a while to come off but I was so depressed and didn’t want to get out of the house, fast forward a couple years , I was back down to my pre-pregnancy weight of 140, I was working out 4-5 days a week and eating healthier options.

Fast forward a couple years I got pregnant with my second child and I gained over 40lbs, I knew this time I wasn’t going to be stuck in a Rut. I went through that depressing stage of hating my body and living the person I saw In the mirror. Close to my daughter turning a year I decided to take control of my life and take care of my health… she’s almost two and I’ve lost most of the weight I’ve gain during my pregnancy and then some. I’m extremely happy and have a new outlook on life now.☺

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  I was extremely self-conscious, Never wanted to take pictures, any piece of clothing I put on it would have problem wearing, it never looked good on me. I never wanted to go to social gatherings with my friends I would always find an excuse. I would feel disgusted looking the mirror.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  My turning point really was when I would go to the park with my kids and my son would want me to join him on the monkey bar, I would try but only make it pass one bar (how dreadful) . That’s when I knew I needed to loose the weight for myself and my kids. So that I can be able to do all this fun activities with them.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  Oh boy there was days I would cry, I wanted to give up yes!, but then I would look at my kids, and knew that I was doing this for them also. Oh and I had this really sexy black dress in a size small( I brought way to small so it would be my motivation) that I really wanted to fit into, and kept it hanging quite visible in my closet, so I could see it everyday(lol) Every women need one sexy black dress in their closet😃

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  Yes I hit some plateaus, after going on the scale( the scale is evil) I wouldn’t see the results that I wanted, but I could feel the difference in the fit of my clothes. At one point I didn’t step on the scale for almost one month. I felt free when I did that🙂

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  I started taking my weight loss seriously in the month of August 2016 I didn’t really loose much…but then I got really serious in the Month of January 2017 and by the month of May I had lost an additional 35lbs from my previous 10lbs to when I started in August 2016. So it took me 4 months to lose most of weight🙂

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  Oh I was definitely an emotional eater, whenever I felt sad was when I would eat the worst kind of food and feel awful after, or when u would step on the scale and saw no progress after my hard work, I would go out get a couple of chocolate bars and just sit there and eat every one of them( most times was 3-4 bars😫) I would eat my veggies drink my water, but looking back now I believe I wasn’t trusting the progress. I know better now😊

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  I’ve love fitness( working out) for as long as I can remember, but at my heaviest it was such a struggle doing the excerises I that I love doing. Initially I started off modifiying those work-out, then gradually worked my way up to doing the real deal. That was awesome, I remember at my heaviest I could only do 5 push-ups on my knees, now it’s up too 20 off the knees.

  1. For certain, I loved sleeping in my workout gear, as soon as I got out of bed it was time to get it on. I had the most energy in the morning.
  2. Meal prepping was key, during the day I never had much time to cook running around after a toddler, so it saved me lot of time.
  3. I had a weight loss chart stuck on my bedroom wall, everytime I loss 2 or even 5 lbs I would go on shopping websites and look at clothing save those in the cart, (even though I wouldn’t buy them as yet) but I knew once I got to my goal weight they were coming home too me😄
  4. I always had a glass of water first thing when I got up in the morning.
