I have lost 59 pounds and have never felt so proud of myself.

My weight loss journey started a little over a year ago. I weighted 227 pounds and wanted nothing more than to look and feel beautiful. I wanted my outside to be as wonderful as my inside. I have been a yo-yo diet girl my entire life. I decided I had enough of it, enough of feeling ugly, enough of not being happy with myself. I started cutting back on the bad things I was eating and the next thing I knew I had lost 15 pounds. That is when I noticed it was working and I was enjoying the results of my efforts.

I then began my new way of living. I started researching nutrition and I even took a college course on introduction to nutrition. I learned what to put in my body to properly fuel it. I have been eating lean protein, low-fat dairy, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. I also learned to cut back on processed foods which was really hard because I love junk food. I have never been able to completely cut junk food out of my diet but I really try hard to limit the amount I eat.

I absolutely use to hate exercise. I joined a gym and tried walking the treadmills but was so bored I couldn’t take it. About 1.5 years ago I tried group fitness. I took my first Zumba Fitness class and I was hooked. It was amazing the way it added to my results. I became a regular and attended class 5 times a week. Zumba Fitness became a part of my soul. In June 2012 I became a Zumba Fitness instructor and now I teach 5 classes and attend 1 other class each week. It keeps me accountable and lifts my spirits. It is now amazing to me to be able to bring my knowledge and excitement to my students. I am now a leader and inspiration to others who can understand what it is like to begin a new life journey.

Being a Zumba Fitness instructor inspires me to continue my path of success. Combined with good nutrition I feel I will become the best version of me.

Little things in life make me appreciate my new life. I never enjoyed shopping before when I was heavy, now I can’t seem to get enough of it. My son now gives me compliments on how I look or the outfit I am wearing )he is 17 so getting positive compliments from him is amazing). Family and friends express the amount of pride they have in me. But most of all the energy I feel is unbelievable. I have a 3 year old nephew and I can now keep up with him. Having pride in yourself and your accomplishments is a beautiful thing, one in which I wish I could share with the world.
