WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I grew up as an overweight child. I was bullied relentlessly in high school which led me to eat even more. Food became my crutch. It was what I leaned on. It didn’t talk about me or judge me. It was my absent father. It was my everything.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight held me back from lots of things early on in life. I never had a stable relationship because I felt unworthy or that they would take advantage of me because of my size. I was very self conscious growing up. I became the class clown so that I could make fun of myself before others did which was definitely emotionally damaging to me.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My turning point in my journey was 6 years ago. I was very depressed. Failed relationship. Had just given birth to my daughter at my highest recorded weight of 325 pounds. She gave me a reason to live. She didn’t deserve to have a mother that couldn’t run and play with her or be around through life with her. I was diagnosed as borderline diabetic, high blood pressure and had really bad knees.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
The very first step I took was to stop drinking a 2 liter soda per day! Only water! I Immediately started to lose weight. I then started weight watchers where it helped to jumpstart my weight loss. I worked out daily. At least 30 minutes per day.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
It took 6 months to start to see my hard work pay off. I am glad that I didn’t quit.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
The main challenge that I had to overcome was my mental connection with food. Why was I so in love with food? Why did I relate everything to food? I went to counseling to find the root cause. I cried it out. I wrote it out. I understood why food was such a priority in my life. Then I fixed that. I also had to overcome being in the gym alone. I learned along the way that this journey is personal. I am doing this for me.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I started a blog. My blog and my followers became my support system. There were plenty of times where I wanted to quit. But I knew that people were watching and that they needed me as much as i needed them.

Plenty!!! Flying for the first time and did not need an extended was major!!! Being able to shop in any store. Being able to walk with my head held high!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I was an extreme emotional eater. I ate a large pizza every other day while pregnant. Soda everyday. Mostly fast food.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
When I was heavier, I did not exercise at all. In the beginning of my journey I would walk 30 minutes per day and was in excruciating pain. Now I enjoy the gym. It is my second home. I love spin class. Fell in love with swimming and weight training.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Track everything. The good days and the bad.
- I use water enhancers to get my 1 gallon of water in per day.
