I was an athlete in High School and College! When I left college and stopped all the sports and activity, I found food. It became my new sport for the next 35 years. I traded exercise for food.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I knew that I was not living to my full potential. I knew that I could do more with my life! To others, I was very successful and I certainly had a nice family, a successful career but to me, I was failing miserably at weight loss.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I had carried 100 extra pounds for 35 years and in my younger years it did not bother me, by knee was so bad, I could barely walk some days. I finally had an MRI and the doctor said, “There is no injury.” I hobbled out of there knowing I needed a change!
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? A good friend called and said … You wanna join Weight Watchers with me?
I said… Yes for the 50th time. I really didn’t think I would do it. However, from the first scan, I was hooked. It all made sense to me! I had been studying the brain and rewiring for along time, I knew that there was a missing piece. For me, that piece was a structured program like WW!
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I started losing day one.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? walking. feeling not so stuffed all the time.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Just now with 20 more to lose, It’s slower but I don’t mind. I love what I eat, how I move and how I think.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? I lost 100 pounds in 8.5 months on WW
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? I have a million #nsv mostly fitting in smaller places and seats like booths and airplane seats. However, my biggest #nsv is that I no longer CARE about FOOD! I am no longer obesessed with food, weight or the scale.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I ate for sport. Candy bars, jelly beans, anything with sugar…. You name it all the time. I was not a volume eater. I was a constant snacking on sweets and some times chips!
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I have always been a walker but the past 10 years I was doing only a mile or two a day with the dogs.
