How I Lost 125 Pounds: Elliott Makes Exercise A Priority And Gets Fit
Name: Elliott Subervi
Before Weight: 308 pounds
How I Gained It: I gained the weight by being lazy and eating late at night. I had an evening job, so I got home late and just sat down and ate what I considered my “dinner” at 10 p.m. I ate pizza, greasy cheesesteaks, French fries, bacon cheeseburgers and whatever else I could get delivered that late.
Breaking Point: One day, after bending over to tie my shoes I lost my breath and almost passed out. At that moment I realized I had to change this.
How I Lost It: I joined a local gym, spoke to a trainer and started my journey. I reluctantly went into one of the trainer’s offices and asked him what I had to do to get this “fat suit” off of me. He instructed me on core workouts and cardio. In the beginning, I did whatever he told me to do and just kept showing up, but as I started to feel the weight loss I began loving it.
Today, I am at that gym every morning from 6 to 8 a.m., Monday through Saturday. No excuses, that’s my gym time. I have work time, play time, meal times — but I also have gym time, and I don’t miss it for anything except an emergency. I try to get a cardio session in at least three times a week and I do chest, arms, back, legs, shoulders and of course abs every day.
I try to eat as clean as possible now. I stay away from fried foods and extremely processed foods. I eat a lot of grilled chicken, steak and veggies, plus protein shakes and egg whites.
I love the change that has occurred in my life. My doctor says I have the body of a 39 year old. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe; I could no longer wear my 46-inch waist pants and XXL pants. Today, I’m in 34 pants and medium shirts. I feel so much better about myself, I’m no longer the big guy. If I can do this, anyone can!!
After Weight: I maintain at about 182 to 185 pounds.
