Weight Loss Before and After: I Lost 164 Pounds And Half My Body After Age 65!
Like many folks, I had gained weight slowly over many years. I found myself at age 68 weighing 301 pounds and unable to walk more than a few feet without joint pain. None of my doctors blamed it on obesity — they wanted to treat me with pain treatments, injections, patches, and pills. I asked, “Is it arthritis?” I got evasive answers.
On the scale at my primary care doctors, I finally allowed the nurse to tell me how much I weighed. For years, I refused to let her tell me. When she said “301” I burst into tears on the scale.
For the next 19 months I ate only 1 healthy meal per day and absolutely no calories in between. It’s a modified version of the Fast-5 Diet by Burt Herring (see www.fast-5.com) wherein my eating window is only 1 hour per day, with plenty of water, coffee, and diet tea in between.
I reached my goal in 2010 and have kept it off ever since, generally by sticking to the Fast-5 lifestyle. My doctor does not approve…she still thinks people should eat many small meals per day. But she can’t argue with my numbers: cholesterol down, blood pressure down, sleep apnea cured, triglycerides down. At age 71, my numbers are unbelievably good and more importantly, I am totally pain free.
I also look great. People do not recognize me. I went from 301 pounds to 137 pounds in 19 months, losing over half of my body. My current weight is 145 and holding. I’m happy with that, as I was actually gaunt at 137. (I’m 5’6″ and have an artificial knee and extra skin that take up a few pounds.) I look fantastic in my size 8 skinny jeans. Still have the 26W jeans from back in 2009 and cannot believe I filled them.
I have pics, but most include other people.
