Going Vegan(ish) Helped Jasmine Lose 213 Pounds!

I don’t even remember a time as a child when I wasn’t heavy. My parents are overweight, my grandparents, my aunts/uncles, cousins and even my siblings. It was accepted in my family even though I was unhappy.

NAME : Jasmine
BEFORE WEIGHT : 424
AFTER WEIGHT : 211
POUNDS LOST : 213

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I never wanted to take pictures or go to the beach with my friends because I was so uncomfortable with my looks.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I recently go into a new relationship and he supports my lifestyle change so much. We go to the gym together, he supported me in making the change to eating vegan and juicing. Yes I am and more importantly YOU are more than capable of doing it alone but to have a partner who supports really pushed me to keep going.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I stopped drinking. I noticed how much it affected my body and gave me the energy.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? Within the first month for me. I noticed my energy shift and that’s when I became addicted to the workout life.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? No support from family and work schedules for me. It’s hard incorporating a 5 workout week but I make it work because it’s necessary for me to remain focused.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? Yes! There are days when I’m over it, I look in the mirror and I don’t see the change that everyone else comments on. Some days I don’t even want to walk past the mirror, all my clothes are falling off! This life can get depressing but the good days are way better and more frequent than the bad days.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Yes I was stuck at 264-240 for almost a year it wasn’t until I decided to make the change to eating vegan did the weight start to fall off.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? This was a 2 year process and some months were better than others but it’s important for to never discourage yourself at that time. The weight loss game is very unpredictable but with patience, motivation and consistency the body you dream of you can get.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? Only non scale victory I can think of is going from a size 28 to a size 14.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I drank all the time bars after bars. I was always a picky eater but when I found something I liked to eat I ate it over and over again which became my downfall.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I work out 5 times a week now compare to not working out at all for a period of time. Working out took some time for me to get used to but now I’m an addict. It’s my happy place and the rush of emotions when I complete a satisfying workout is indescribable .

HOW DID YOUR EATING HABITS CHANGE? I am VEGAN-ISH lol. Which means I can’t give up fish I love it so much. If I’m not eating fish I am eating a vegan meal. I also meal replace with juicing twice a day, combined with intermittent fasting. I also follow a diet program/workout routine from KOK fitness.

ARE THERE ANY PEOPLE, SERVICES, BOOKS – EVEN QUOTES, THAT UNKNOWINGLY HELPED YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY?
KOK Fitness regimen and workout plan put me on the map for greatness.

WHAT DID THIS JOURNEY TEACH YOU ABOUT YOURSELF?
That I am an phenomenal woman who motivated herself to change her life to SAVE her life.
