After my first child was born. I had preeclampsia, which caused me to gain a lot of weight. After having him I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which caused me to have a harder time losing weight.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? It affected a lot. I was a young mom (25) living in Newport Beach, CA…and all I wanted to do was cover up my body, not put on a swimsuit and enjoy my surroundings.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I had tried for years to lose weight, in between the birth of my two sons. But it was until this past year, after suffering back to back miscarriages that a fire was lit within me to get my life back and to get healthy for my two boys, my husband, and MYSELF.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I tried working out daily, but the extra weight resulted in injury after injury further setting me back. As I was laying in bed one day unable to be with my family, because I had thrown my back out, I came across a friends picture who had just done a Advocare 24 day challenge and I decided to give it a shot…it was only 24 days.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? Within 2 weeks the bloat was gone and I had more energy than ever.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? I was my biggest challenge, everything else was in place. I needed to believe in myself.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? The results I was seeing kept me going, I took progress pictures often and looked at them when I felt like cheating on the diet or giving up.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? My tracking my measurements! I recently have stayed at the same weight, but my inches continue to go down. Had I relied on the scale, I would have given up.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? 3 months. The dashes was during the 24 day challenge and I kept it off.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? So random, but seeing my knee caps and ankles was the best feeling ever. I felt like the swelling/fat had melted off and I love it.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? Eating a lot more and eating full meals. Lots of veggies and protein.
