From hormone imbalances to healthy

I was chubby as a kid already. But what actually caused me to gain so much weight was a little accident i had when i was 16 years old. After which i was told bed rest most of the time. This was the time i gained most of the weight and struggled 4 years to lose it.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  The weight always bothered me. Right since I was 8 years old. As I grew older i took more and more confident away from me. I stopped going out to social events at all. Even if i did, i would stick by my mom and not talk to too many people. I developed alot of hormone imbalance problems and even hirsutism.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  I visited the physician for suspected diabetes symptoms. I was adviced to get all my hormones checked and get all possible tests because diabetes wasn’t the only thing that seemed to be the problem. All my tests were out of control and i was at border line of all possible disorders. My physician explained all the problems arised because of the weight. So i decided i was going to repair myself.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  After initially failing all my attempts trying to diet on my own, i finally consulted a professional dietician

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  I saw results in 20 days! Which became a huge motivation for me to continue. I lost 2 kgs in the first 20 days. Thats when i decided there’s no coming back.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  I suffered from hypothyroidism and borderline diabetes. So losing weight was difficult. Also, I had a surgery to correct my congenitally swollen cystic duct and gall stones. So I had a bit of a set back there. But once i recovered, i started full fledged yoga and running again.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  The clothes and the better looking body, my before-after pictures just kept me going and kept me motivated.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  I did hit a weight loss plateau. My only fight against it was more physical work and less of sugar.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  It took me about a year to lose most of the weight. It was slow but it gave long term results.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  Oh! I have so many! I had never worn dresses when i was heavy, and now i can wear dresses even 2 inches above my skin. I had so much confidence and i felt fashionable and good about myself.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  When i didnt care too much about my weight, i was extremely careless and i would eat even 50 cupcakes a day! Once i tried dieting on my own, i would skip meals and eat too much at one time.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I would do no physical exercise what so ever. Once I decided to lose the weight i started a one hour walk everyday and after 7 months I started yoga. And then power yoga and now i do some weights too.
