The weight started creeping slowly when I turned 30 but took a turn when I quit my job to be a stay at home mom. Going from a 9-5, interacting with People, to interacting with kids all day in my home brought on signs of depression. I binged my way through my days.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I became an introvert who hated going to parties or anywhere that would require letting people see how I had let myself go.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I always thought to myself that I would make a big change before turning 40. On my 35th birthday, I told myself that would be my last unhappy, uncomfortable birthday.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I joined an online support group and learned what clean eating meant. I went all in. Throwing all the junk out and cooking st home versus eating out. I started doing at home workouts from my living room while my 18 month old napped.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I lost 40 pounds in 5 months when I made all those changes.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? Working out with an 18 month old thatvrarely napped was hard. Sometimes I would have to stop and tend to her before continuing. Having to cook clean for myself only while making separate meals for my husband was also a challenge.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? The fit community on social media is amazing and encourages me to never give up.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Through my journey I’ve hot several plateaus. I’ve kept focused and resolved to not quit. I switch my workouts constantly in order to prevent my body from getting accustomed.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? Within my first year I lost a total of 60 pounds
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? I never dreamed of having muscles. I just wanted to fit into my pants. The fact that I have muscle and can do push ups is an amazing non-scale victory
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I ate fast food every single day. McDonald’s was my poison. I binged in sweets and chips st night until I was sick to my stomach.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? When I was heavier, going up and down stairs would wind me. I would have difficulty squatting to get clothes in and out of my home dryer. I started working out 30 minutes a day and slowly started building strength and loosing weight. I now workout 6 days a week 30-60 minutes a day.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
