WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
Primary was really hard for me, I constantly got bullied which made me turn to food for comfort which eventually made me really fat. Due to being so depressed about my weight I continued to eat for comfort through out year 7,8&9. My weight was a really hard thing for me
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I felt like I had to stay inside, that no one would want me around because I didn’t look like everyone else. I didn’t like taking photos because of how big I looked, I didn’t like doing any physical activities because I would run out of breath quickly.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
At around the age of 15 I joined social media and seen a lot of people’s weight loss stories, that made me think that I could do it and achieve my goals.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started by turning every negative comment into motivation. By making them motivational they didn’t affect me in any bad way, it pushed me harder to prove to people how great I was. I researched some healthy recipes and joined the gym.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started to see results after a month, I was always in denial that I was losing weight just because of the negatives comments. But eventually, I seen that the weight was going and I started to feel amazing.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Money was an issue, the gym isn’t cheap and neither is buying healthy food. Junk food is a whole lot cheaper than any healthy food. I didn’t like exercising at first, I didn’t like the sweat, the pain or how time consuming it was.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I always wanting to give up, I felt like not enough weight was coming off as I didn’t have any patience. Not having any junk food made me angry and I have really bad mood swings. But, despite all that each time I seen weight was going I felt amazing, and I didn’t want that feeling to go so I kept going.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took me a whole year too drop 4 dress sizes. But all the hard work was worth it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
I never used a scale, I don’t believe in them. I go by inches.
