Fat to Fit!
January of 2012 started off with me being over weight and smoking over a pack of cigarettes a day. I couldnt breathe and was very uncomfortable being at my heaviest weight coming in at 262 lbs and a Size 24/26! I felt like I needed a full change in my left if I wanted to see my children graduate and be able to do things with them without being embarrassed of myself. First thing I threw out the cigarettes the 1st week of January. Thinking that I was going to gain even more weight inspired me to start thinking about what I was eating and how much I was eating. I have tried every kind of diet known to man and did not want to pay someone to help me or take diet pills. I wanted to defeat this on my own. So, on April 28th I decided the time is NOW! I started watching my calories and doing a little walking (that was all I could do at the time). I slowly started to pickup my exercise to a little jogging when I could. I bought me an elliptical and stationary bike to use. After about 20 lbs, I thought you know I can do this, so I signed up for a 5k determined that I will make it whether I ran it or walked it. As the time approached for the race, I was still weighing in at 228 lbs! I completed the race coming in at a time of 39:41, I was overwhelmed with joy knowing that I CAN and WILL do this!! As the months passed on and the weight slowly coming off, I have completed many 5k races, placing 1st place in my age division several times I am now running 5k races completing them in about 30 min. I competed in my 1st Duathlon Challenge back in Sept, and came in 2nd in my age division!
It is now December 27th….8 months later and I am down 84 lbs and a Size 12! I still have about 25 more to go before I reach my goal weight. I have signed up to run my first 1/2 Marathon in March and hopefully be able to complete a Full Marathon before the end of 2013! Life is amazing now to me and I enjoy getting out, feeling good about myself and enjoying life to the fullest!
