How I Lost It
I exercise with my kids. My three children (ages 14, 11, and 9) are very active, so I started walking with them. In the beginning I lasted about 15 minutes, but eight months later we did our first 5K together. And now we’ve completed five more.
I distract myself from food. If I get a craving, I run up and down the steps in my house a few times and brush my teeth instead of eating something unhealthy.
I lighten up comfort foods. My kids love lasagna, so I make a healthier version with whole wheat pasta, fat-free ricotta, low-fat Parmesan and mozzarella, and low-sodium pasta sauce. They can’t tell the difference.
