Weight Loss Stories
Dedicated to Change (More photos)
My story of being overweight started as a child by eating fast food and unhealthy snacks. I grew up obese weighing over 200lbs by the time I reached Jr. High School. At 16 years old I was smoking a pack a day and weight shot up into the 300lb mark, I also devolved a blood clot in my right leg.
You would think this would have scared me being told by Dr’s that I could have lost my life if that blood clot would have moved but it didn’t and my weight just kept ballooning up. I had decided to lose weight in 2006 and started exercising at this time I got pregnant and because of my weight still being in the high 200s and my blood clots I lost the pregnancy at 24 weeks.
I felt as though my body turned it’s back on me and really what was the point. My eating habits never changed with that first weight loss and I went from 242lbs to 381lbs by the year 2011. It was at this time I decided I had to do something. I remember looking at scale and scared to death ( 29 years old, 5’3, almost 400lbs what is happening to me). I had purchased a workout video from an infomercial I had seen late one night in 2010, it said get results in six weeks.

I thought it was worth a shot by getting it out again. Well this time something clicked and by purchasing these home workout programs (Slim in 6, Les Mills Pump, P90X, and TurboFire) I have successfully lost 207lbs and still going. This home training has led me to make better food choices and has allowed for me to train for other things. In March of 2013 I did my first 10K and in October 2013 I will complete my first half marathon.
I haven’t been running very long but with cross training at home I have made remarkable progress and will be doing my first Full Marathon in March of 2014. I can’t imagine my life going backwards; I can only see long healthy life ahead of me.

I wish I could lose weight. I’m on Paxil and going through menopause. I know being this heavy is very bad for my health. I just need help and paxil really works for me but the weight gain is terrible and I’m not really sure why I gained so much. What makes a person gain weight on these meds? Did eat too much? Why??

Great, but scary story as my mom passed from a blood clot and I need to lose 160 lbs. This medical fear is w/me always along w /my sister’s who are both also over weight. What were your blood clot symptoms? I got a gym membership, but haven’t started going. I am starting get physical therapy tmrw for my bad feet and legs and back. Feet are from birth and bad surgery, knees and back are from falls and my left leg pain I think is from my feet and weight. I’m praying this will help over all and to help kick start my weight loss. Thank you for sharing your story and praying for continued health
