A whole new me, by the grace of God!

After battling weight issues since I was 16 years old (currently 55 years old), I was expecting my first grandchild. My daughter and son-in-law had a previous miscarriage with her first pregnancy, and were devastated with this loss. I prayed and asked God if he would give my children a healthy baby, I would get healthy myself. My goal was to be able to run
after my grandchild, and get down on the floor to play. My prayers were answered and we were blessed with a healthy grandson, and my journey started.

My grandson was born in January of 2011, and in June of 2011 I had put my promise off long enough. I attended
my first Weight Watcher meeting on June 26, 2011. I weighed in at a whopping 346.8 pounds. I was to say the least shocked. I didn’t own a scale, and avoided them like the plague. I lost 13 pounds my first week, and knew that my goal was attainable, if I didn’t give up. I suffered from high-blood pressure, and high cholesterol due to my weight and was taking medication daily to help control these issues. I wasn’t able to exercise when I first started losing weight, but after losing 75 pounds I started at our local rec center. Walking and toning with weights became a daily routine for me. My weight loss journed to reach my goal took me 22 months. I met my goal in April of 2013. I have
continued to loose slowly, and currently weigh 129.2 pounds. Previously I wore a 5X, and now say with pride “I wear a size 8”. But most importantly I have reached the goal that kept me going, and I now play “tractors” with my two healthy grandsons on the floor!

With the grace of God and huge support from my family and friends I am a much healthier person. I celebrate the things that most people take for granted. I am able to sit in a chair with arms, fasten a seat belt, climb stairs,
and park in the furtherest parking stall when shopping. I now walk 6-8 miles a day, and recently completed my third 5K. I celebrate sharing my story with others, and want anyone no matter whether they have 20 pounds or 200 pounds to lose, it is totally possible. You would not believe how much better you would feel.
