Nights out with nothing to wear but long shirts with body tops underneath
Put myself down constantly
Believed I was nobody and couldn’t achieve anything
Hated anything to do with fitness and dieting, ignored it all
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
Went to a gym did 30 secs on a treadmill and burst into tears as I gasped for breath. Met a PT who brought me to weight training then a work colleague trained with me 5 days a week. I became an addict, the more weight fell off the more I wanted to train.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
Within a month of training. I started becoming happier and more Confident.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
The battle of giving up as I had no more patience of cobstantly going to the gym and i wanted to pig out as life seemed so unfair. Yet again I started to feel sorry for myself trying to give up.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
My work colleague and PT kept me focused.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
When I moved home to my local area to teach I gained 2 stone. I began to feel unhappy, blamed the society I lived in when in fact I should have been blaming myself and not excuses around me. But again I needed to find that one person who would bring the spark back to my training and Fitness with Meenan gave me an online programme and he constantly supported me and even encouraged me to commence my personal training & Gym course which I’m now qualified and have my own business.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
Within 4 months I had shed 42 pounds, gained some then lost it so within 1 year it was gone.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Following my weightloss Gavin Meenan coached and supported me to my photoshoot in May and I’m now entered into NIFMA Miss Fitness Transformation model in October.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Clean cut. I used to eat crisp sandwiches, croissants, biscuits anything that was quick at hand for breakfast. Now I have educated myself it’s all about my calories and balanced approach receiving the correct quantities of protein, fats and carbohydrates with 1 treat at the weekends.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I am so active and as a result I believe energy creates energy hence I’m on the go 14hrs a day and before this I would have zero energy tired at 5pm and watch TV for the night. Now I’m like a duracell battery ha!
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Eggs for breakfast
- Eat 5 small meals per day
- Avoid too many carbs and processed foods
- Eat fresh veg and meats for dinner with sweet potatoes or basmati rice.
- There are many set things we can have instead of chocolate bars etc. I lived on Hartley sugar free jelly, dark chocolate and many more treats
