WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I was 9 years old I was underweight and my mother took me to the dr, after a year the dr put me on drinks to have with meals to help me gain weight. I did and the weight didn’t stop pileing on.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It limited my life, I wasn’t able to do what most teenagers do, it lead to a life of torment and being bullied right through until I was an adult.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I was the heaviest weight I have ever been, I couldn’t walk up the stairs and I was killing myself. I wanted to die. I realised that I would either die or fight to live for my children.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started with cutting out junk food, fizzy drinks and replace them with healthy Snacks and water. I read loads online.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
Right away! I had eaten so badly that once I started to treat my body well the weight dropped off. Quickly the first few weeks but has evened out right now. Slow and steady will get me to my goal.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Hated exercises, loving junk food to much, I’m not going to lie and say I was a healthy fat person and that I ate healthy foods with the occasionally treat, no, I ate wrong and had to mental change my mindset. Living in a new country and having now support system. I hated cooking.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Yes I have! When I did want to, I decided to make goals but make them achievable goals. I decided to try new recipes and new treats. To push myself in exercise. Changing the word motivation to discipline, once I understood that I felt more determined.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I did. I would change up what I was eating, listen to my body in what it needed and change the fitness routine.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It has taken 34 weeks to lose this weight so far and I still have a good bit to go but I’m doing it. So How ever long it takes it will be worth it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Totally, I have dropped 5/6 dress sizes and I have muscle pushing through my legs.

I could barley walk in January and now I can do HiiT workouts, go on the treadmill, lift weights and walk 5k without thinking I’m going to die.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Drink plenty of water
- Eat more veg that fruit as it still has sugar.
- Kale and spinach have calcium, so having them can add to your daily intake.
- If you feel like giving up, remember why you started. Right down your goals and smash them.
- Never be ashamed of a weight gain, body’s fluctuate and as long as you’re making changes that’s all that matters.
