90 Pounds Lost: When I stopped calling it a diet, and started making this my life.

WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I started getting heavy in early elementary school.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight completely messed with my self confidence. I never felt like I was good enough.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I hit 250 lbs and the number wouldn’t stop going up. I knew that hard work was the only answer.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started by cleaning up my diet, nothing too fancy. Most of my start was in the gym. I would do 10-20 min of cardio a day and a lot of weight lifting.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I saw monthly progress from the beginning. I took pictures and measurements once a month.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Eating was and still is my biggest challenge. It is also very hard to build a healthy lifestyle around others that want to eat all the wrong things.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Yes, many times in this journey I’ve wanted to give up. Instagram and my progress pictures have always been my biggest motivation. When I didn’t want to work out, I would find my favorite Instagram account to find motivation.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes, seems like I plateaus every ten pounds! I change up my diet or change my work outs.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took me 2 years to lose 90lbs. Now I am working on losing the last 10-20 pounds and really becoming stronger.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Getting under 200 lbs was so amazing. Hitting 189 lbs was even bigger because I felt like I was for sure never going back to 200lbs.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I really think about what I am eating. Food is fuel for my day. Now when I eat really bad my body feels insanely crummy. I also never beat myself up for a cheat meal, I just don’t have them everyday! I used to eat fast food all of the time and never actually understood what foods were good and bad.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
My biggest comparison that I notice is playing softball. I used to be completely winded running the bases and embarrassed to even have talk to someone after. I can now walk at a 15 incline with out my legs feeling like they are going to give out. There is so many little things that are so awesome to have achieved.

- Don’t take your journey too seriously!
- Always take pictures, even if you hate your body now. It’s worth it!
- Find a work out partner or become accountable through social media.
- Meal prep!! Stops you from eating out when you’re starving!
- Make your work outs fun! Don’t push yourself so hard every work out that you hate it. I chose to lift weights because I love it!!
