I started developing a weight problem slowly after I was temporarily paralyzed my senior year in college during a collegiate football game. I was told I would never be able to play college football again and my physical activity would be very limited. Of course I proved the experts wrong!
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I was very self conscious about what I wore and who I was around.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? The turning point was when I looked at these photographs and noticed how far I actually let myself go after being in shape all of my life.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? When I first started my fitness journey to take the weight off I went extra hard in the gym everyday for at least an hour and a half and sometimes twice a day.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I started seeing results almost instantly when I started my program thanks to a great supplementation package and a fantastic trainer.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? I had to overcome being temporarily paralyzed, neck surgery, knee surgery, shoulder surgery and still deal with massive arthritis in my lower back but none of this stops me from going 100% in the gym.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? I had a great support system and now I have my TeamFit4Real squad behind me and I try to lead by example. We don’t stop when we’re tired we stop when we’re done!
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? I didn’t hit any plateaus till the last few pounds and I just switched up my workout routine and diet and got back on track.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? I lost most of the weight the first 6 months because of how hard I was going after it.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? The mental victories are even more satisfying than the scale victories because of you win the battle of the mind the body will follow.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I was constantly eating fast food and drinking alcohol.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? My workouts now compared to when I was heavier is like day and night. I’m a personal trainer now so I’m in the gym everyday all day working with clients and getting my individual workout in.

- I use to watch a lot of tv so whenever a commercial would come on I would do push ups, mountain climbers or crunches till the commercials were over.
