I battled obesity my whole life and vividly remember my dad telling me if i didn’t lose weight he would have to get my clothes from “Omar the tent maker”

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I always hated my body and secretly battled depression. I always heard that nobody could love you unless you loved yourself…i never loved myself so all relationships were doomed.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I turned 50 and was sick and tired of being sick and tired. A friend recommended a “down with Dani” page on Facebook and i used that page for support and knowledge.

Walking around the local school track in the evenings.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Having never exercised at any point in my life… I had no idea what to do or how to do it. Also arthritis in my knees.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I often wanted to give up but my new internet friends helped encourage me!

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
No.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
75 lbs at the one year mark

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Lots! Biggest one is wearing size 10/12, mediums for the first time in my adult life… I had been a size 22! I haven’t been at a weight this low since GRADE SCHOOL!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
mostly clean eating… Lotsa fruits veggies and proteins

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I go to the gym and our the bike trails give to six days a week….i hadnt ridden a bike in 30 years!
