WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
After my mother died, I stopped caring about myself and my health. I completely let myself go.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I had back pain just walking down the road. I was out of breath just going up the stairs, I couldn’t tie up my shoelaces without holding my breath as my stomach was in the way, I couldn’t sleep on my side because I was crushing my Lungs
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I had a at home diabetes kit and I was borderline diabetic, I was constantly out of breath by doing minimal movements
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Got myself a fit bit started doing more steps and joined weight watchers
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
It took about 1 1/2 to 2 months before things started to improve , my back pain was going , I wasn’t out of breath as much any more and people started to notice I lost weight
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I have always been a lazy person, exercise has always been a challenge for me. So I decided to start small and just start walking more. When I lost a little bit more weight, I was then ready to going to the gym and do Zumba classes. Now I’m confident enough to actually do cardio as well
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Losing weight is a challenge. It’s a completely different frame of mind. It’s not because you lose weight that you all of a sudden do not enjoy junk food. It will always be a challenge but I know I never want to go back to where I was. There Has been times where I didn’t want to go to the gym, and ended up eating bad food instead but it’s all part of the journey

Being able to walk without backpain, fitting into smaller clothes, be more confident in general life
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Before I would eat unhealthy all day through, then I would come home after work and I would eat a pizza, multipack bag of crisps, cookies, sweets, everything. Now I know how to eat in moderation. I still treat myself on a daily basis but just in smaller quantities
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
In the beginning I couldn’t even walk without back pain, now I walk for a whole hour on my lunch break at work, I go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week. I just feel so much healthier in general
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Take your time , don’t rush. It’s a sprint, not a marathon.
- Set yourself realistic goals, goals you can meet each month, treat yourself to something you’ve always wanted when you reach those
- When you have a bad day, just draw a line under it. Don’t feel bad. We all have those. Nothing’s lost. Just don’t give up completely, start again.
