WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
When I was in high school I definitely started gaining weight and becoming more unhappy with my body. I was working in a fast food restaurant and constantly allowing myself to have treats.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
It wasn’t until I moved to Sydney and decided to start fresh did I realize how big I had gotten and how unhappy I was with my body. I new then that something needed to change.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
Having no friends in a unknown place made me find comfort in being able to go to the gym and work out all the worry. I tried to go every second day after work to just keep active.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
It took me a while to notice changes. At first I didn’t really know what I was doing in the gym but after I got my personal trainer things really started to change in my body quickly.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
It was just the motivation. I lacked any motivation to lose weight. This is why I will always be grateful to my Personal trainer. Its always good to have that extra push.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
No when I got into that mind set I kept setting myself achievable goals which helped to motivate. I would say I want to get from 104kgs to 95kgs and so on.
I think because my goals were realistic and I never said I wanted to go from 104kgs to 60kgs it helped. Once you hit the small weight loss you then just keep setting another goal.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes I plateaued at 84kgs and was stuck on that weight for around two months. Because of that I realized I had to change my eating which introduced me to the world of meal prepping.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It has been around a year now I have been losing weight but about 3 months with a trainer I have noticed a huge change in my muscle definition.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I used to live on take away meals and now I meal prep once a week and stick to what I have made to eat for the week.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?

- Learn what to eat and figure out how to fit these meals in with your daily life.
- Hire a personal trainer. If I hadn’t done this I would not have been where I am today.
- Take a lot of photos. This always helped when I was demotivated I would look how far I have come.
