WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I was always a bigger kid but when I was 23 I was in a car accident I was driving and my friend lost his life. I prayed I would die in my sleep and I bloomed up to 450lbs. I got married at the age of 28 I have a son he’s my whole life. I got divorced at the age of 32 then my weight spun out of control.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight cost me my marriage. I couldn’t walk over 10ft and I brushed my teeth or washed my face I got out of breath. I was miserable. But what I most regret is my sin had to take care of me every time I think of this I tear up I couldn’t play sports with my son I lost a lot of precious time with him. I knew I was at deaths door so I prayed that I would die when my son wasn’t with me..

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
4 years ago on May 15th I stepped on a scale and broke it that day I joined a gym which was extremely embarrassing I wore a hat and had my ear plugs in so I couldn’t hear or see anyone talking abt me. After I lost 300lbs I finally realized why I was saved God saved me to help others not only did God save me but he gave my sin a life…

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I went from 20.000 calories a day to 1200 i quit all sodas, started drinking 2 gallons of water a day. Since I couldn’t stand up for over 1 min or walk over 10ft I rode a big stationary bike or sat on a bench and hit the punching bag.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I lost 90lbs my 1st month but I had to lose over 150lbs before I could tell. I had fluid in my lungs I took awhile before my body could pump the fluid out of my body..

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
To get started. The key is to have numbers if I didn’t have such good numbers I didn’t know if I would stick with it. I heard a lot of so called experts say lose the weight slowly in my option that’s wrong I’m also a trainer now and in 19 months since I became one the people I’ve helps have lost 2500lbs and counting…

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
No…. I was on deaths door.. When I look in the mirror I still see the old Neil, I got a life now and I LOVE lifting weights and teaching my aerobic class.. Plus I will Not Let the people who support me down..

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Oh yeah I hit plateaus, what’s funny the littlest thing will get you over a plateau, once I increased my water intake, I also added calories or took away calories, or added or took away cardio.. We are all different we have find what our body is craving.. Add berries, kale and all different types of vegetables

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I lost 450lbs in 2 1/2 years

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
My very 1st goal was to walk to my mail box which is 40ft from my front door.. I went from 8x tall cloths to 2x tall cloths.. As silly as this is walking threw Walmart was huge for me.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I went from 20.000 calories a day to 1200 now I take in 2000-2400 depends on how many times a day I exercise..

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I couldn’t walk 10ft now I workout 11-12 times a week including teaching 4 aerobics classes a week. I mow my grass now and have a garden. Most of all I don’t rely on anyone to take care of me..

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Eating plan, clean protein such as chicken and egg whites, berries are huge eat plenty of vegetables, eat your fruits before lunch so your body can burn off the sugars
  2. A workout you can do and like take it slow build a solid foundation then build from there.,
  3. Mental strength our mind can be our best weapon or our emery
  4. Fun we are human we don’t do anything unless we love doing it or we make money at it
  5. FAITH God will pull you threw when nothing else will. Let him lead all we got to do is follow…
