I have had weight problems all my life.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I never dated, was always teased and had very low self esteem because of my weight.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I went to weigh myself for a work event and the scale couldnt weigh me. It stopped at 440lbs and I was humilated.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
The hardest part was and still is for me, living and learning to live with people who do NOT adapt a healthy lifestyle. When I am alone its much easier cause I dont buy the food I shouldnt eat but when my friends or partner brings stuff in it is very hard.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I always wanted to stop and i still get tired, but what keeps me going is habit, and also knowing that I WILL NEVER GO BACK! Once you make up your mind its pretty easy (mentally) from there.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I hit the normal ones and I overcame it by not giving up and not making excuses. We often tell ourselves I had a bad day I DERSERVE that. But truth is no you dont. Food isnt a treat or a punishment its just energy! (and i know much easier said then done)
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I do not eat red meats, fried foods, or soda. I try to limit sugar and anything that isnt “natural”.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
O Man this is probably the biggest change. I am now addicted to working out! I started with 5 mins a day cause thats all i could do and now i do over 2 hours a day!
