WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
Back in highschool, I was always heavier than everyone else, it became a huge problem when I turned 19
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I was unhappy, it affected my relationship.
I was lazy, it affected my every day life.
I was addicted to food, I kept eating and growing.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I was hospitalized due to my weight causing severe spasms in my colon — I was told I must lose weight and so I woke up and decided to change my life.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I cut out all the bad foods, ate smaller portions and made sure it was all healthy
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
Within a month I could see some changes in my body.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I loved eating, it was hard to cut it out like cold turkey — I also worked at a restaurant and that did not make it easy to stop.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
There was several moments I wanted to give up but for my happiness and my future I knew I had to keep going.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Yes and I still am hitting them, working out has really helped to overcome those
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
About 3 years and still going
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes, taught myself how to run and ran a 5km race that I finished.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I never ate breakfast
Now I have a slice of brown toast with a fruit
Lunch and dinner consist of greens and proteins
I eat smaller meals more consistently
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I never worked out or ran before
I now work out 4 times a week and run at least 3 km 3 times a week
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Don’t give up.
It’ll get harder before it gets easier.
- Don’t starve yourself!
If you’re eating healthy foods, eat them! They help you better when you eat them
- Incorporate exercise.
It truly makes a difference, it will help with the weight loss
- Do not deprive yourself.
Give yourself that cheat meal !
- Use others to motivate you !
