WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
As a child I always was an average size girl..as most people do I gained weight as I went through my teenage years ..when I graduated high school I was around 135…Shortly after I found out I was pregnant..And that was the start of me spiraling out of conrol .I gained over 100 pounds during those 9 months and lost very little after having my son…4 year’s later I became pregnant with my second child and gained 40 more pounds ..Than after getting a divorce I seemed to turn to food for comfort..And at that point I stopped weighing myself. .When I finally did I realized I was at 311 pounds and in very bad health. .
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
My weight affected every aspect of my life…I honestly feel like I cheated my children in their younger years. ..At my weight I didn’t feel like doing aside from working..Which I had to do being a single Mother. .I didn’t participate much with things they enjoyed doing because I simply didn’t have the energy to do so..I had very low self asteem ..which led me to overeat even more..
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
September 11 , 2012 My first Grandchild was born and that alone should have been enough to turn things around but it didn’t…Until I went to the Doctor with my Daughter and Grandson for his 3 month old check – up. .to the same Doctor who delivered my children. .And she looked at me and said if you want to see your Grandson grow up you better get in better shape..That was it..”My Turning Point ”
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I imediately went to visit a lady in town who guided people how to eat and lose weight..Using no drugs or surgery. .She is a former heavier lady who had been in the shoes a lot of us were in…after 2 years of healthy eating ..daily exercise..and a natural vitamin regime I have reached and am maintaing a healthy weight..
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started seeing results imediately …but even then it didn’t seem to be coming off fast enough. .but with determination and hard work and my Grandson’s picture always by my side ..I had lost in three months around 60 pounds..
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
It wasn’t that I didn’t like exercise. .but as big as I was it was very difficult. .No one else in my family have a weight problem and it wasn’t the fact that I didn’t have 100 percent support from them I just didn’t have anyone to exercise with me..
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Never from day 1 of me deciding to be healthier did I ever want to give up ..Because the reason for me starting this journey was right there growing fast and waiting on his Nanny to be able to run and play with him..
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I weighed myself every week even though I wasn’t gaining any weight I had a few weeks in a row the scale never moved. .That was very discouraging..But again I just set my sights on why I started this and changed my diet a little. .
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I lost a little over a 100 pounds the first year after I started this journey..
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Its amazing how my daily diet changed..when I was heavy I didn’t care what I put in my body..I just really loved to eat..of course I loved the grease. .fat ..chocolate. .cokes..and lots of it..Now I think about everyhing I eat and only want to consume only good things ..I want to be healthy from the inside out..
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
Before I only had enough energy to get through the work day..And as a waitress always on my feet that was often so hard to do..Now I work 10 to 12 hour days..and am ready to walk..play with my Grandbaby..Clean house..I sometines get on my on nerves because I have so much energy I don’t know what to do with it..

- Lose the weight to benefit yourself
- Always stay focused ..remember why you started and don’t ever give up
- Get a buddy…doing this with a partner. .it helps keep you both motivated..
- Power of positive thinking…you set your mind to it you can do it
- Count your calories..go for low cards ..low sugar. .low sodium foods. .
