12 years old, i started to gain what slowly, high school i was about a size 18.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  first it was the clothes, I remember going to a pub once and my butt was just to big to fit int he chair, I was out of breathe and couldn’t keep up with my child.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  I could not get my feet up to get my socks on my hips were getting so bad.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  I joined Weight Watchers in January 2011.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  I would say it took a good Month, I also started exercising at the same time as well I would say it took about 3 months before people started commenting.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  hmmm, well my marriage ended the end of January 2011, so i became a single parent of a 5 year old so i had to juggle having a sitter for exercise, I also had a 70% of my thyroid removed, along the way, there have been many struggles!

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  I did give up at one point when i had my surgery and gained back 45lbs, in 2013, however I realized i didn’t come this far to give up, so i got back on track and took up running.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  I tried not to focus so much on weight I focus on fitness, i may not have been loosing but my body was changing, I was loosing fat, gaining muscle, I would recommend body analysis to anyone who has come a long way and is getting frustrated with numbers.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  It’s on going it took about 3 years and i have hovered around the same weight for about a year now.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  MANY!!! Exercise Classes, each one i went to was a victory, then running, 1k, 5k, 10k, and i am signed up for my first 1/2 marathon!!! Also clothing, i can shop in a regular store!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  Lots of clean food, fruit, veggies, I eat to live not live to eat, “bad food” is still eaten but it’s mostly the 90 10 rule, 90 % of the time i eat well 10% i eat what i want.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  it gets easier, attending exercise classes at 320lbs wasn’t fun but necessary, i could hardly walk or sit for days on end because of my sore muscles but i never gave up, nor did I ever feel judged you think everyone is going to stare, well get over yourself, no one cares they are there to exercise, not make fun of the fat lady!


  1. Limit your white food!!! stay away from bread, rice, pasta.
  2. NO EATING After 7pm!! your body does not require fuel to sleep!
  3. Drink lots and lots and then more water!!! make it your job!
  4. Exercise daily, find an activity you enjoy, a class you enjoy, anything just move!!!
  5. Don’t give up because of one bad day, get over it and start again, do not look at how far you have to go, look at how far you have come! and brag about it!!! (that’s what facebook is for)
