WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
When I got married and had 3 kids. I forgot about taking care of myself.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I worked full time and when I got any opportunity, I would sleep for hours. I was missing my kids growing up and not being the wife my husband deserved.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My 6 year old asked, mommy why are you fat? I saw myself through his eyes and I had no real excuse except for I got lazy. I saw that every time my kids wanted to play, I made an excuse. I saw that I was feeding them fast food 4-5 times a week and I just was not being the role model they needed.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I joined a fitness bootcamp class. I needed something more to keep me focused then joining a gym and trying this by myself.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I averaged 2-5lb lost a week. It took 1 1/2 year to lose the total 150llbs.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
lack of support from friends, I hated exercising because it was difficult, I educated myself with what I eat and how it effects my body.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Oh yes!! The motivation around me kept me going. My family kept me going, and to prove all those people including myself that I was not going to give up, this time. Also when I talk with others and help them with their own journey, it keeps me inspired and I continue my path.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Of course I did and still do. It was hard at first but with the right guidance from my trainer and others that have been on this path before me. I learned sometimes you have to give yourself a little kick. I mean change your eating, or add exercise.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
1 1/2 years.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
I started off wearing a size 28 jean now wear size 8
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I ate terrible, fast food, cookies, cakes, ice cream, processed meals. etc. No veggies, No fruit.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I couldn’t run, I couldn’t keep up with the others. Now I come in first with running, I flip tires on the sand, I run with sand bags of 45lbs of sand. I weight train 4-5 days a week.

- Surround yourself around others on the same path.
- Journal and be organized.
- Lose the Excuses
- You will be competing against yourself. Stay focused and show yourself and others it is possible.
