I always struggled with my weight even in Elementary. I was always bigger than my classmates. Being born and raised in the South, eating healthy meant not adding gravy to your meat lol I grew up with brothers and mimicked their eating habits and the pounds piled on!

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?  My weight kept me from shopping at the Mall. I was always self conscious and never liked eating in public. I hated not being able to find anything to fit!

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?  In 2009, I got pregnant and blew up to a whooping 335lbs! When my daughter began to walk, I was out of breath and could not keep up with her. I was fed up! The weight had to go!

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?  First, I stopped eating out daily and ate out every other day. Next, I started the Walk Away the Pounds DVD series. I began cutting out fried foods and soda. After Church on Sundays, my family would do Just Dance for 3 hours straight! Can you say Cardio? I began to research how different foods affected my body and began to add more veggies to my diet.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?  I began to see progress about 1 month into my lifestyle change. I lost 19lbs my first month!

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?  In 2003, I was diagnosed with high blood pressure. My doctor told me that I would have to take medication the rest of my life. Well, the devil is a LIAR! Changing my lifestyle has enabled me to become medication free!

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?  I have wanted to give up. Being here with my daughter for as long as I can is my motivation to continue living a healthier life.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?  Yes! I’ve hit many plateaus. The human body is so smart! You have to constantly trick your body into losing more weight. To overcome plateaus, my go-to plateau busters are Low Carb 50mg or less, Intermittent Fasting, Increased Weight Lifting, and HIIT.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?  In 13 months, I lost 110 lbs. No Surgery!

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?  Yes, I can now go through the turnstile at the fair instead of having to walk through the handicap side.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  At my heaviest, I ate fast food 5 to 6 days a week. Pasta, Pizza, Soda, Gravy, Cake, Pie! If it was calorie laden, I ate it! If I had a bad day, I would eat. I rarely ate green vegetables. I always loved french fries!

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?  When I was heavier, I never really worked out. Now, working out is apart of my normal routine. I love to walk, jog and ride my bike. Dancing is my fave too! Just turn up the tunes and get to moving!


  1. Cut the Carbs!
  2. Keep your running shoes by your bed.
  3. Add unsweetened Cranberry Juice to your water and Drink half your body weight in ounces of Water daily.
  4. Fill half your plate with green veggies.
  5. Cut out dairy.
