I began as early as 8 years old when I started to be overweight.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? Growing up I had social anxiety, and with gaining weight it made it to a severe level where I hated to interact with anyone.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? I had a lot of goals and everything I wanted to do in my life at the time seemed impossible at the current weight I was. So I knew that I had to get a better strategy.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I started with calorie counting. And basically have lost all my weight with that & my excersise routine that I created.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? When your 6ft 330 it’s hard to see results right away I say when I hit 280 is when I started to see a difference.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? It’s a mind game more than anything. With the right mindset you can do it. No one wants to diet, no one wants to exercise. But no one wants to die earlier than they have to. And no one wants to sit on the sidelines. And watch everyone else live their life as you waste away.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? Sometimes you gotta go through darkness to get to the light.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? I had 3 big time frames 330 – 280 probably a year but it was with very little exercise and just cutting back on the junk while I still ate a gigantic amount of junk food. 280 – 265 within 4 months with adding excersise. And then 265 – 199 was about 6 months. Total time frame less than 2 years.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? From a pants size 46 – 34.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I was consuming 6000 calories on a average day at the age of 14. I gained weight so rapidly that I went from 290 to 330 in like a month in a half.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? When I was 330 I couldn’t run without gasping for breath. Everything was tiring and I always felt exhausted.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Cut out regular soda completely if you can’t make the transition to just water then drink diet soda till you can make the transition. Don’t drink your calories it hinders your results.
- If you eat out at restaurants leave off mayo & limit your salad dressings, dipping sauce, & ketchup. This are hidden calories people forget to count and are loaded in calories.
- Try drinking 8 glasses of water a day. A good way to do this is drink a glass every hour during your work schedule if possible and by the time you get off work you won’t feel so tired & exhausted.
- Don’t reward your positive results with food. Get clothes, video games, or something that brings you joy. Don’t buy a cheesecake and eat the whole cake cause you lost 10lbs cause it will make you crave it even more and it will hinder the results dearly.
