8 years ago. I went from 135 to 255lbs in a course of 8. I used to eat large pizzas for dinner or a Big Mac combo and 10 nuggets for lunch each day. Sometimes, I would drink 5 to 6 cans of Coke a day.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I became a professional hider. I never wanted to go anywhere. I was so embarrassed by my immense weight gain. I felt uncomfortable in my clothes and never felt attractive.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? My friend Shaun told me it’s time for me to do something about my weight. He told me he believed in me and that he wanted the fun cool JJ to come back.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I started my weight loss journey on Monday April 13 2015. I weighed 255lbs. I workout 6 days a week for 1 to 2 hours a day. I started out doing a bootcamp. But I would eventually do boxing, hot yoga, socacise, twerking, Zumba, weight-lifting, skyrobics, trampolining, basketball, long walks, sprints, Bollywood dancing, cardio dance and gymnastics.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? It took approximately 1 year and a bit to hit my goal.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? My motivation. Weight loss is mind games 101. Sometimes I wouldn’t lose weight after putting in so much work. I would feel like giving up. But i told myself. “Keep going.” I believe in the process.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? Sometimes. I would cry and ask myself. Why did I do this to myself. I will never get to my goal. But I kept on fighting. And now i weigh 145lbs
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Patience. I made peace with plateaus. I realized you can’t lose weight every day. I just worked harder.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? 1 year
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? I can do 2 hours of cardio with losing my breath. I can do cart wheels and 1 leg push ups.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? Junk Food. Can we say McDonald’s And Pizza every day.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? I never exercise when I was fat. Never. I love to seat down and relax. Now I workout Almost everyday
