When I was 32 I had stage 4 colon cancer , after I went thru pure hell I bet it and was very thankful but I had a colostomy which to this day I still have, So I guess you could say a form of depression had set it then it was not much longer my Daddy became sick and we took care of him with hospice help until he past away The my Mom got kidney cancer and same thing we took care of her at home with help of hospice ..I guess you could say at that point life was just to much so I turned to my drug of choice which was FOOD , high in CARBS ..FOOD!
I let it get way out of hand until I ended up in the ER one night and I got a wake up call from the Dr. And his exact words to me was , You look like a strong girl so I’m going to be blunt here ..you are beautiful but you are FAT , and if you want to live to see grandkids one day you better lose this weight also you will be able to be off meds for diabetes and high blood pressure .
Let me tell you I went home I got rid of every thing in my cabinets, refrigerator and freezer and I went to the grocery store next day and bought plenty of meat and eggs and allowed veggies for low carb ..I have never felt better I now walk 5 to 6 miles per day ..I have more energy then I have had in 20 years , I’m in a size 6 jeans ..use to be a 22/24 …I love life and I did not die from stage 4 colon cancer I beat it and I beat obesity too…I’am a survivor ..now my goal is to get to 150 pounds and I have a group on Facebook over 1,400 members.
I started in July of 2016 because I was always asked what I was doing to lose weight …I’am so happy to say I have already helped others on their low carb weight loss journey ! I love people , I love life and I’am not ready to die…I strive to help others and I welcome anyone to my group as long as you are kind and supportive , I do not allow ppl to bash each other and no rudeness ..I must admit I have one of if not the BEST groups on Facebook and thrilled that we keep growing ❤️ Thank you so much for letting me share my story with y’all .

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? My turning point was when I had to goto the ER and the ER Dr. Coming in and opening my eyes by telling me I was fat and if I wanted to live to see grandkids some day , I better get off some of the weight …I love that Dr. For what he did say to me that night ..he changed my life forever and he actually saved my life .
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? The very first step I took was goin home after the hospital and throwing away EVERYTHING high in carbs ..went to the store the next morning and bought all meats , eggs , allowed veggies I could have and I could never be happier then I’am today about doing that ! Low carb has changed me so much inside and out ..mind and body ..I’am just thrilled I made that change and I will never go back to looking or feeling like that again.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? It took me about three weeks to see the change he in myself and the way I was feeling about the weight coming off but doing low carb I started losing the weight right away mostly water retention comes off then the fat .
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? All my family and friends cheering me on telling me how good I looked anshopping for smaller clothes , never once wanted to give up ..always telling myself there is no food that tastes as good as skinny looks or feels …never give up ..you fought cancer and won you can fight obesity and win that too!!!!
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Not to many..you do hot then at times no doubt but while staying the same weight I was also losing inches
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? It has taken me almost 10 months
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Drink plenty of water ..keeps you full and helps flush out the bad
- Walk ever. 30 minutes per day walk or do some kind of exercise
- Wake up every morning knowing you made it another day ..keep going never give up
- Go shopping ..do not treat yourself with a dinner out ..go shopping and buy never clothes
- Always try to make your food at home …there is so much sodium way to much in restaurant food
