I think I was always addicted to sugar and my relationship with food was based on emotion not health. In 2004 I moved out of London and fell into a depression which only agrevated my need to eat junk, from then until I TRAINED my BRAIN my relationship with food was a series of treats, binging, fasting and failing at diets.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? I felt irritable and agitated most of the time, tired and upset on further fuelled my need to eat sugary and carb heavy foods.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? When I got so angry one day and in a fury fled to eat some biscuits. I stopped dead in my tracks as I knew this wasn’t a healthy reaction and wanted to no longer be controlled by sugar.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? I learned methods in which to rewire my mind. Change my thinking at the SUBCONSCIOUS level.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I felt the mind shift straight away and started noticing changes in my behaviour in the first week and then changes in my body within the first two weeks!
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? A overcame all my limiting beliefs, blocks and fears of missing out.
Overcame upset from the past when diets failed and I felt like a failure, upset around my body, fear that this wouldn’t work again, not being motivated to exercise, how my upbringing around food affected how I felt, the strong cravings for sugar and the inevitable backslide of when changing a habit there is an adjustment period.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? The brain is an amazing powerful tool that is often underestimated. I TRAINED my BRAIN to keep going despite its need to keep running the same programme. That’s the brain just doing its job.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Yes, I resisted sometimes doing the brain training again this is natural as the brain wants to maintain its original pattern.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? 9 months
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? Oh wow, complete change. Where I used to skip breakfast I have a juic, I eat raw and fresh and on occasion make my own raw sugar free chocolate desserts.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? From inactive to active. I fell in love with yoga, I like squat challenges and still regularly do my Cindy Crawford work out video!

- Know that you are not your thoughts.
- See yourself as entering into a new relationship with your body and food.
- Visualize how you would like to look and feel.
- Work on your fears with brain training techniques.
