WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I’ve always had a weight problem. When I was 20 I gained weight from medication then lost 90 lbs in 8 months on the Atkins diet. I kept most of it off besides a fluctuation of 10-15 lbs until 2011.
It was after its worst after I quit smoking in 2011. The Scale just kept going up and up. Then I got pregnant and gained even more weight. At 256lbs I had enough.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I was depressed, I felt so self conscience and I didn’t want to go anywhere order anyone because I felt like I had to explain why I was so heavy , every time I ran into someone that hadn’t seen me in some time. I was tired all the time. I barely fit on rides anymore when I would go to Great Adventure.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
At 256 and after just having had a baby, I knew I was gonna work as hard as possible to get this weight off except after I lost 20 lbs I couldn’t lose anymore. The doctor ran blood work but there was nothing wrong. He tested my thyroid, again nothing wrong. been my life saver.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
After having all of my lab work come back normal I asked if there was anything he may be able to prescribe to help. He offered to try me on Qsymia, but I would have to come in once a month to have my blood pressure checked.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
In the first 3 weeks I lost 21 lbs
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
The medication was costly and I really didn’t have the best support. I will forever hate working out. I have finally realized I have to tone now. I need to suck it up!!!!
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Yes every time I work out. I never want to give up on my weightloss because it was so hard to lose this time. I do t have years to put into losing weight again. I feel good , I am finding myself, I am doing what makes me happy. Eventually you have to look at the scale and say even if I can’t lose a dramatic amount of weight , I am never going to let this number go higher and set your goal of that to start.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I have had many plateaus I have started working out now to try to break it
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
1 year, the whole journey was about a year and a half but I even pretty consistent for a year
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I follow weight watchers but the old point system so I’m only allowed 21 point a day. That is not very much at all ,because it’s so little I try to make sure most of my snacks have as little points as possible cause I live a big meal so I save for dinner.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I couldn’t even go up the stairs without being winded. Now I feel good when I workout.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- If you’re unhappy with where the scale is at, make that your limit and never allow yourself to exceed that number.
- Always eat breakfast
- Don’t let your diet be ruined over a cheat…cheats are good occasionally pick yourself back up and get back on track
- Don’t restrict your calories too much
- nobody else will make you happy unless you’re happy with yourself… Do it for you do what makes you happy
