HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE? My weight affect my confidence growing up, dating and social life. Certain activities I would shy away from. I remember never wanting to participate in p.e. Growing up, never wanting to go to high school dances and I never felt confident being active.
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY? The turning point for me was when I was around 25/26 & I had just gotten out of a bad relationship and I was at the most unhealthiest point of my life. I remember telling a close relative that I want to lose 50 lbs, and they responded, “ girl you’ll never be able to stick to a diet”!
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED? The first thing I did was get my mind right and educate myself. There’s a lot of mud information out there and a lot of quick fix diet crashes that don’t work and don’t last. I prayed, talked to my doctor and begin following Instagram pages that were based around healthy lifestyles.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS? I saw results within the first month. My first month I lost 22lbs. By month 4 I had reached my 50lbs weightloss mark.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART? I had no one in my family who was on the same journey as me when it came to health so sometimes I felt bored and alone. I had to realize that I was doing this for me and me alone!
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING? Yes, plenty of times I wanted to give up. But, seeing how far I’ve come I didn’t want the hard work I had out in to be in vain.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? Yes when I reached my 60lb weight loss mark I reached a plateau for months. After doing some research of my own, I learned that my body had grown accustomed to my routine and I would have to change things up a bit. I began incorporating more light weights into my workouts in pls r of some cardio and I switched to more lean meat options.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT? I lost the majority of my weight within the first year of my journey.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES? Yes, I really learned how to discipline my eating habits which goes far beyond what the scale may read. Feeling in control is the greatest feeling ever!

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER? It’s much easier and more enjoyable to be active and physical is that I have lost weight. I have more energy and I don’t get winded as fast.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- 1. Keep it simple!
Don’t over complicate your routine. Doing too much to fast will make u feel overwhelmed.
- Organize your life and plan ahead.
- It’s okay if you have an off day, everyone does. This is a game of longevity and consistency.
- Take steps to bring more active. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator some days.
- Set small goals. Don’t focus on the big picture right now, break your goals down and accomplish something small every week.
