WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
My weight problem started when I met my ex husband and lost my confidence myself and my respect for myself. I was bulimic and unhealthy
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I wouldn’t go to the beach and associate with my friends. It was hard going up and down stairs. and I couldn’t play my favorite sport basketball. I had troubles sleeping with the constant snoring
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
after 4 years of being with my ex husband and moving to a new province and away from family and close friends that’s when my eyes really opened up and saw what has been happening infront of me. what people around me were trying to tell me was unhealthy. I was in a controlling marriage a very unhealthy marriage
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I used the gym first for a place to go and cry…I would go days without working out. I just wanted to be alone, be away from the house and him. I began to find that lifting weights and cardio helped ease the mental abuse and gave me a clear head through my day. I would wake up at 5am to be at the gyn for 530am till 7am then back at it again at night
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
the first 2 weeks I noticed weight was dropping. I lost my first 10lbs.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I had next to nothing support in my home…I didn’t have my family there or my close friends. I feel like the most challenging part was not in the gym but in my head and fighting myself to tell myself to open my eyes to smarten up that I couldn’t keep living the way I was
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I did. What kept me going was results as well as being able to notice I was getting my back bone. I was becoming more confident, and I stopped hating myself and started loving me for who I am !
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I did! what worked for me was just changing up my gym routine and eating. I would switch up proteins and veggies at different times of the day and I would either do cardio or a circuit to get the heart rate going faster to burn more
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took me about a years to see most of it gone now going up in weight because I am building more muscle !
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
I did…I grew my wings back and packed up my car with just my clothes drove 11 hours back home. I realized I wasn’t for him and he wasn’t for me. I have become more positive and on my own 2 feet. I did something a lot of women cant do and leave a marriage that is toxic
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I am not eating before bed, I don’t drink pop, I am not a heavy drinker, and less carbs, and smaller portions
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Water! drink lots of water 4-5litres. Our body most of the time is thirsty not hungry !
- keep your goals small. their easier to see and accomplish and boost you to reach your next goal
- don’t ever say you cant. you can. you want this you go get it. Set little rewards for yourself at the end of the week
- Don’t over train, doing this can make your body swell and you wont see the results you want. take 2 days off a week
- Sundays make for great meal prep and measurements!!!
