WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I have always had a problem with overeating. I hit my highest weight after I had my baby.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It affected everything. I dealt with a lot of postpartum depression and anxiety after giving birth. Most of it came from being overweight. It affected my sleep and most importantly my relationships with people.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
The turning point for me was when my son started becoming mobile and I had no motivation or energy to chase him around and play.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I got started on a program called take shape for life. I have learned portion control and how to fuel my body.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
Lack of funds, being able to afford my food. I made it happen. I love sweets and carbs so giving that up was definitely a challenge

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
All the time. Keeping my goals in mind kept me going. Also remember how good I feel and how many other things in my life changed along with my weight

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
Not yet.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It has taken me two months. I still have about 20lbs to go

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
All the time! Fitting into clothes I haven’t wore in YEARS!

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I eat 6 small meals a day rather than 2
Large meals with lots of carbs

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I have way more energy and an way more mobile. Standing on my feet for 8 hours a day no longer kills my back and feet.

  1. Always create new goals. There is no finish line!
  2. If you mess up, jump back in the game.
  3. Eat frequently!
  4. Keep your body moving!
  5. Have fun!
