WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

My weight problem started when i got pregnant with my son in 2011.My weight went up from 50 kg to 85 kg.By the time my son was 3 years old i was still 85 kg and by then i had terrible knee and ankle problems from an old injury and it didnt help that i was so overweight either.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
Climb up the stairs in my house was almost impossible and standing was a big problem as my ankle and knee was so swollen.I was going having physio therapy for my ankle and knee at the time and was adviced by the therapist to lose weigh or i stand to do more damage in the long run.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I realised apart from the fact that i had problems walking i could also not find anything nice to wear everytime i went to buy clothes.that put me into a very deep depression,i hated what ive become,i didnt like what i saw n the mirror and i felt like i have died inside.I went from being a very confident woman to a shell of my former self.It was the worse 3 years of my life.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
my good friend had a Health and Wellness business and she was helping a lot of people to lose weight in her line of work,and she ask me to try this detox plan.I was very sceptical at first but thought i have absalutely nothing to lose by trying it.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I first realised that this detox was working after a month of doing it as my biggest pair of jeans which was the only thing that really fitted me was beginning to feel a lot loser.I was very optimistic as i knew it was working,and there was no stopping me.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I didnt have any real challenges at all,as my will to lose weight was bigger that anything else that was happening at the time.i had a drive that came from inside to make this work,i wasnt looking for anyone to push me,i was very self motivated.Something happened in that first month that put life back into me.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
nooooooo way was i going to give up.!!! i already saw results and i was in it for life,lol
i could already envision the dresses i was going to wear the shoes i wanted to buy,i was on a roll to become the best version of me.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
no i didnt hit any real plateaus,i was very disciplined and strict with myself.I always had the mindset of you either do something well or dont do it at all.So i was all in.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
it took me 3 months to see rael results,where i went from a dress size 20 to a 14.That was the happiest day of my life.I kept going and am now a dress size 8.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
i never weighed myself only before embarking on the detox and after 3 months.I think the scales are a big put down or a none motivater.I alsways tell people to get rid of the scales when doing the detox.We measure ourselves and see how many inches instead of weighing.Also i encourage people to buy smaller size clothes and let that be their motivator,to finally get into those clothes that they only dreamed of wearing before.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
my daily diet now consists of my morning Vegan ptotein shake,for breakfast as its quite crazy busy in the mornings in my house with 3 young kids its easy to forget to eat as i am so busy feeding everyone else before school.For lunch i will have a huge salad with alot of raw green vegetables and smooties. For dinner i have a full meal of sweet potatoes, carrots,brown rice,there are so many different dishes you can create,so everyday i cook different things.I make sure that i top up with extra Fibre and i dont eat wheat at all or potatoes.i only eat brown rice.i think the fact that went Vegan has played a massive role in my weight loss too.I have also up my water intake to 3 litres a day.I start my day by drinking 4 glasses of water as soon as i wake up and dont eat anything until 45 minutes after drinking the water.it has a very cleansing effect on your body.and i only cook with coconut oil,

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
i can now run up the stairs,walk faster and am extremely active,i am always moving.i no longer suffer with insomnia and i have great skin.i no longer feel lethargic and i dont have foggy brain either.i have a new clearity that came with living healthy.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. drink water,filtered or boiled then cooled down at room temperature,if you dont have a filter.
  2. read self motivational books or listen to audios by people like Louise Hay,and wayne dyer
  3. practice self love by talking to yourself in a positive way,never talk down on yourself,and get away from negative people.surround yourself with people who elevates and brings out the best in you.
  4. self believe is very powerful.you need to know that you are ENOUGH.
    dont let anyone make you feel worthless,we are all created with love to love others.self love is a definate must.read books on becoming the best version of you.
  5. enjoy your life,life is so short,live it with no regrets.
