WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I have had a problem with my weight since I was younger, I come from a heavier family with poor eating habits. I can recall going to the doctor at 10 and weighing 185lbs.
HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I have always been really self-conscious and shy because of my weight. It kept me from speaking up for myself, and being an average kid. My goal was always to keep minimum attention if any!
WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I have always attempted to lose weight, but I became serious recently after weighing myself and being over 240lbs. I had become up with looking at myself and being unhappy at what I seen in the mirror. I’ve always felt that my weight was the only thing keeping me from loving myself.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
When I first began my journey I would walk on the tredmill each day for any hour, and cut all junk food as well as juice and soda out of my diet. I became obsessed with others fitness journeys as they were my motivation.
HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started seeing results about 6 weeks after working out, first in my face then the rest of my body.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
My biggest challenge is coming home for the holidays because my family still eats pretty unhealthy, so it becomes harder to stay focused and dedicated.
DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
I find myself wanting to give up often but my support from my friends and family keeps me motivated. Also, seeing pictures of how far I have come keeps me wanting to progress even more.
DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I have yet to hit a plateau
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I lost most of the weight in 4 months, I am still striving to lose more.
DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
My scaleless victories would be going from a size 14/16 to a size 10 and it fits comfortable!
WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
When I was heavier I ate tons of fast food and candy. I rarely cooked anything and ate pizza and burgers everyday.
HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I have always been pretty athletic, I have a background playing both softball and basketball. I have learned a lot from different people when it comes to working out and my favorite execrise consists of the stair master & weight lifting.
MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS
- Make sure you are getting plenty of rest!
- Everyone’s journey is different so do not track your progress by how good someone else is doing.
- Stay hydrated, drink plenty of water.
- Meal prep, it makes it easier and your are less likely to eat bad.
- Stay away from the scale, and love yourself regardless of what size you are.
