From Fat to Fit
My wife and me were able to transform ourselves from obese couch potatoes to healthy active outdoor athletes. The aha moment came for me when the scale passed the 300lb mark not long after my 30th birthday. I realized that I was working hard to invest for retirement, but was not investing in my health to ensure I was around to enjoy it.
My wife jumped onboard, and we began the process of shedding pounds. It took more than a year of hard work, but I was able to loose over 130lbs and my wife lost 70lbs. Everyone who sees our transformation wants to know what “the secret is”. There was no secret, no easy short cut. We learned all we could about nutrition, and changed our eating habits to be much healthier. We took advantage of iphone “apps” to track what we ate and make better choices. We also adopted a very active lifestyle. For exercise we hike, mountain bike, climb, and trail run. We are working on our goal of climbing all 53 of Colorado’s mountains over 14,000 feet (14ers).
More important than losing the weight we have kept the healthy habits we have now kept the weight off for more than 2 years.
