WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
I started having an issue with my weight about 10 years ago.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
It started about 8 years ago.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My weight loss journey started January 1, 2015, I was at my heaviest at 271 lbs. I was so unhappy and just sick and tired with my weight and all the yoyo, fad dieting! I was so desperate to loss weight, I would do anything to do it….so, I changed everything!!! This started my journey to a healthier life.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I made a promise to myself, to not give up and that I needed to to this for me. I made a plan and stuck to it. I made an appointment with my doctor and started the process for bariactric surgery. On July 6, 2015 my gastric sleeve was done. One of the best decision I’ve ever made. This gave me the tools to help me successfully reach my goals, through healthy eating and exercising. This is now a way of life for me, this was a lifestyle change.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I saw results within a few months.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
A few challenges I was faced with was want to go to the gym and learning to like it. I still don’t like it but I know it’s important in my life. I definitely enjoy it a lot more now then I did in the defining. I’ve found classes that I enjoy, like Zumba!

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
Of course there are days I’ve wanted to give up, I’m human but then I flip through old pictures of how far I’ve come and it helps keep me motivated!

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I have hit a few weight loss plateaus over the past year. It can be discouraging. I try to bump up my protiens and water intake.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
I hit my 100 pound mark at 10 months post-op surgery. I still have another 25 pounds to go and I know I’ll reach thst this year

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Yes nany. Even though I’m not always seeing victories on the scale, I know my body is still changing. I can see the difference in my clothes.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I know eat about 1 cup of food per meal, three times a day. Mostly all protiens. I now drink at least 100 ounces of water every day. Before I started this journey my daily diet was maybe two meals a day and full of carbs. I maybe drank 8 ounces of water but mostly soda.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I now go to the gym 4 days a week! I am so active and have so much energy!

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Water, water, water. Drink plenty of water!
  2. Put yourself first!
  3. Food preparation, it helps you stay on track!
  4. Never skip a meal!
  5. Find a physical activity you enjoy, get active!
