WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?

I have always been on the plus side, I was born at almost 10 pounds. In school I was always the chubby kid and after high school my weight began to spiral out of control. When I developed health issues because of my weight I knew I had to make a change.

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?
I love to travel and try new things and because of my size I was limited to what activities I could do. I have always had high self esteem but my size made me second guess myself at times.

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
I have had so many embarrassing moments due to my size I have lost count. Flying on planes I could never buckle my sealtbelt and always needed an extension and at theme parks certain rides I had to get off because I did not fit on the ride so I had to wait for everyone else to finish the ride.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
The first step I did was throw away all of my junk food and went shopping for healthier options. I did a liquid sugar free diet for two weeks to detox and lost 20 pounds and I immediately started eating CLEAN and did at home exercises before joining a gym. I also have a personal trainer who works with me to rebuild my body with lean muscle.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?
I started seeing results about the first month of my healthy journey but on the scale the numbers were dropping in the first few weeks.

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?
I have overcome so much I now have all the confidence in the world and know that there is nothing that I can’t do. I no longer have sleep apnea and my blood pressure is normal.

DID YOU EVER WANT TO GIVE UP? WHAT KEPT YOU GOING?
All the time it is extremely hard but so worth and looking at before and after pictures always keeps me motivated.

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I have hit plateaus and I just stuck to my plan maybe getting a little more strict with my eating but with dedication I made it past the hard parts.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
It took about 8 or 9 months which is not bad when I have been gaining weight for most of my life.

DID YOU HAVE ANY NON-SCALE VICTORIES?
Taking my entire life back.

WHAT DOES YOUR DAILY DIET LOOK LIKE COMPARED TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
When I was heavier I ate anything I wanted from cupcakes from my favorite bakery to my favorite New York style pizza. I ate out all the time and noticed quickly that it is one of the fastest ways to gain weight. Veggies just were not my thing and I drank a lot of sugary juices.

HOW DOES YOUR PHYSICAL ACTIVITY COMPARE TO WHEN YOU WERE HEAVIER?
I now do all the activities I could not do before. I have zip lined in Medellin Colombia and got on the jet skis. I have swam with dolphins in the Cayman Islands and I now fit on the airplane and I couldn’t be happier.

MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS & TRICKS

  1. Start today you are worth it.
  2. Eat clean train dirty.
  3. Surround yourself with positive people that motivate you to do better.
  4. Never give up.
  5. Remember what is more important to you food or your life.
