WHEN DID YOU START DEVELOPING A WEIGHT PROBLEM?
Had a weight problem very early in life, since I was a kid, I’ve been “heavy” or “thick.”

HOW DID YOUR WEIGHT AFFECT ANY ASPECT(S) OF YOUR LIFE?

WHAT WAS THE “TURNING POINT” THAT GOT YOU STARTED ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY?
My father died in October 20, 2014 and I began my journey shortly thereafter. I needed to release the energy built up from his passing. I was sad, I was confused, I was lonely but his death did spark one thing in me, I became determined. Determined to create the best version of myself, so that he could smile down from heaven and be proud of what I could accomplish. I never liked myself as a larger person and I still struggle now at 160, but I realized that this is what kept me from succeeding. I made a choice that I’d be happy with myself, despite my size, I’d live as though I had already accomplished all of my goals, I would no longer “wait until I lose 10 lbs” to look at myself in the mirror and feel good about me, I decided that I’d create opportunities where I could exercise “courage” and smash the limitations I created for myself. Fitness became more about how I felt than how I would look, that is what got me to the point I am now. I focused on how i felt rather than how much weight I’d lose.

HOW DID YOU GET STARTED?
I started walking around my local park everyday (7 days per week). I was able to commit to this for so long because I told myself that I only needed to become consistent and with that I told myself that as long as I can walk for 10 minutes (maximum, if needed) I would be proud of my effort. This was a turning point for me because it allowed me to ease myself into the process of weight loss.

HOW LONG AFTER YOU STARTED DID YOU BEGIN TO SEE RESULTS OF YOUR WEIGHT LOSS EFFORTS?

WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART?

DID YOU HIT ANY WEIGHT LOSS PLATEAUS? HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM?
I am currently working towards losing the last half of the 100lbs I gained during both of my pregnancies. I’m currently sitting at 160.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO LOSE MOST OF THE WEIGHT?
Almost a year, 10 months to be exact.

  1. The only tip I could ever share with a person looking to lose weight is to believe that it is possible. Once you can master “believing” that you can shed the weight, you will shed the weight.
