Weight Loss Stories
A Complete Life Transformation Documented on Social Media
Like many women I know, I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. I began my first diet at the age of 10, even though I’m not sure I really needed it at the time, and that set me on a course of yo-yo dieting for the next three decades. What was always lacking was a plan for after I lost the weight – a fundamental change in mindset and lifestyle that would keep me moving forwards. Despite being an herbalist and being involved in health and nutrition for my entire adult life, nothing I was doing was working.
In May of 2012, I woke up and found myself 80lbs overweight, sleeping long hours but still waking up exhausted, mostly unemployed and not motivated to really do much of anything. I realized that something had to change. I was a single mom – I had to be there for my son – had to get healthy and find my vitality again. I wanted to be able to run with him and dance and play and fully enjoy the time we had together – and I knew plenty of other moms in the same boat.
I had a friend who was a health coach and we had often sat and talked about health and nutrition while we were waiting for our kids. Several times he had offered to train me to become a health coach, too – suddenly it seemed like the perfect solution to my dilemma. Of course, in order to help others become healthy, I had to walk the walk myself first.
So, on May 4th, I started out on my path. I worked with my friend as my coach, keeping me on track and guiding me through the program. Within a week, I was waking up at 5 in the morning, wide awake and energized with no alarm clock. The pounds starting falling off at a steady pace – to date I have lost 57lbs and I’m still going. I started dancing again at my son’s studio – taking ballet classes with him twice a week. I enjoy it so much that my new goal is to get strong enough to be able to dance on my toes in pointe shoes next year.
Within the first few days of starting the program, I was sure it was going to work for me, so I started training to be a health coach myself and help others to follow my path. I decided to come out of my social shell and started posting photos of my progress every week on my facebook page, where over 2000 people now follow them. I constantly receive messages and comments about how my transformation is inspiring others and that is the most rewarding thing that ever could have come out of this.
I feel like I have transformed not only my body, but my entire life. I wake up every day feeling alive and excited to get started. I work full time as a health coach, while feeling like I’m never working. I take time every day to take care of myself and my health, so I can continue to be the example for others. I can run with my son and dance and rollerblade and just enjoy this precious life.
